GRP Biathletes Race World Cup in Kontiolahti

This past weekend four GRP biathletes competed at the 7th World Cup in Kontiolahti, Finland. 

In the women’s sprint, Clare Egan had a strong race and was the top American with a personal best finish of 13th. She had one standing miss. Susan Dunklee finished 36th with three misses and Emily Dreissigacker placed 62nd. On the men’s side, Alex finished 68th with two misses in his World Cup debut. 

In the single mixed relay, Susan was joined by USBA teammate Lowell Bailey. Susan cleaned her first of two prone stages without using any spares. The team finished 14th with one penalty lap and 14 spares. 

In the mixed relay, Clare was joined by USBA teammates Joanne Reid, Tim Burke, and Sean Doherty. Clare scrambled for the team and cleaned her prone stage without any spares. The team placed 9th with one penalty lap and 11 spares. 

Clare was the only American woman qualified to compete in the mass start in which she placed 23rd with a total of four misses.
