Last week a group of Craftsbury Masters skiers travelled to the Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the Masters World Cup. This group consisted of Trina Hosmer, Gina Campoli, George Hall, and Peter Harris. The Masters World Cup brings together racers from age 32 to at least 91 from all around the world for a week of fierce competition. The field is broken up into 24 categories, by foru year age groups and gender, and the race distance depends on the competitors age.

The series kicked off with the middle distance classic events on a course smattered with rolling hills on a day with tricky waxing conditions. In the AG7 15k women’s category, Gina Campoli was 11th. In the AG9 10k category, Trina Hosmer was 2nd. In the AG8 men’s 15k category, Peter Harris was 9th. In the AG11 men’s 10k category, George Hall was 4th.

In the next day’s skate race, Trina won her age group’s 10k by more than two and half minutes! Peter Harris was 3rd in the AG8 5k. The next day brought classic racing and more podium finishes. Peter was second in the AG8 7.5k, while Trina 2nd in the AG9 5k. George was 5th in the AG11 5k and Gina was 9th in the AG7 7.5k.

Thursday brought great excitement with a freight train parking in the middle of the racecourse! This caused last minute course changes and lot of confusion. George was 2nd in the AG11 15k, while Gina called it a day after about 10k of 30k in the AG7 race.

Congratulations to all these racers who represented Craftsbury and the United States so well in a competitive international field! See full results here.
