Girls, Guys and Guns: Summer Biathlon Practice
This morning, under sunny skies John Madigan, Jeremy Nellis and elite biathlete Susan Dunklee took 14 runners under their tutelage and instructed the novice biathletes in gun safety and prone shooting technique with the added bonus of a biathlon relay.
With two teams of 7 competing, runners ran a short grassy loop, arrived at the mats, got right into prone position and squeezed off their shots. Missed shots were penalized with 5 pushups per miss. Liz Lambert proved her skill with a clean round of 5 perfect shots saying, "I'll do anything to avoid pushups!" as she dashed off to tag the next runner on her team.
The commute back to the Center was short and sweet: a charge up the Biathlon Trail hill and 10 minutes later we were sitting on the veranda having lunch! Thank you John, Susan and Jeremy!
