New gear- hurrah
One of my favorite things about sports is sport gear. I love spandex- it is just great. Shorts without pockets but with endless "pocket" opportunities, because you can stick basically anything in spandex and it will stay there - amazing! Plus it's the most flattering athletic apparel too.We just got our shipment of unis and long sleeve tops and they are AWESOME!!! I did design them so I guess I'm a little biased. Regardless, we are now the FLYEST looking crew around. Our cause is certainly helped by proximity to the less fashionable as well: Princeton just won the worst uni award - enough said. There is value in making the most out of less, however, I can never have enough gear. Some tell me I am a "gear head," but that's totally fair, because I love gear! I accumulate as much gear as I can, dream about all of the gear possibilities. I even daydream about my future house and its gear room (what others may call a garage) with space for all my snowboards, surfboards, skis, windsurfer, kite board, and wake boards; hooks for all of my rockclimbing paraphernalia and bikes (mt and road); kayak and single scull. However, I've come to find that despite my love for gear, the depth of my gear collection pales in comparison to my teammates. I think this is because I am so passionate about so many sports that I have spread my gear spending too thin. I have decided that until I am done rowing, rowing is my one and only one, and so I am just trying to get enough long sleeves and uni's to survive the workouts. I am in a clear uni deficit, with only two unisuits and 12-14 workouts a week - about 12 unis short. I can't wear the same one for 2 practices because I sweat like a billo and they get soaked and must be washed before further wear. So, between this deficit and my native love for gear, you can imagine my joy with getting the new unisuits today - I am totally in love!
